Twenty five minutes north of the Bad Taste B&B (aka "the
barnhouse") is Mount Ashland, a hiker's paradise in
the summer, a skier's paradise in the winter (lodge,
lifts, downhill, cross country, and snowboarding.)
Twenty five minutes to the south is the Klamath River,
offering rafting, fishing, and boating. |

Twenty five minutes to the
east is Pilot Rock, a fairly easy climb which affords
a 360 degree view of Northern California and Southern
Oregon, including Mt. Shasta, Mt. Ashland, and Mt. McLaughlin.
The city of Ashland is twenty five minutes northeast,
and hosts the longest-running Shakespeare Festival
in the United States. Matinee and evening performances
take place in four theaters, six days a week, from
February through October. There are also many local
theater productions happening year-round. Lithia Park,
in the heart of Ashland, is a miniature of Golden Gate
Park, and was created by its same designer, John McLaren.
Main Street and Lithia Plaza offer a variety of shopping
and dining options, as well as an arthouse movie theater
and a wonderful bookstore. |

A pleasant walk from the
barnhouse leads to an authentic Tibetan Buddhist Temple,
complete with a Buddha Garden in which sits a 35 foot
Buddha, the White Tara, the Green Tara, and a beautiful
Prayer Wheel room. Visitors are always welcome in the
garden, and the Temple can be visited by appointment. |
